Trip Information 

Annapurna Base Camp trekking establishes the ecstatic touch of the Himalayas. The trails lying on the southern face of Annapurna Mountain (8,091 metres or 26,545 feet) pass through the rhododendron woods, keeping the view of mountains and glaciers. The flora and fauna, a panorama of the mountains and lifestyle of the locals are in perfect harmony with nature. This trek provides an excellent opportunity to experience the fascinating glimpse of the rich culture, typical Nepali lifestyle in the Himalayas at the high elevation.

This is an ideal trek best called as a classic one which takes you into the heart of the mountains and provides you with the 360-degree vista of peaks.

Mount Fishtail Adventure has designed this 15-day long Annapurna Base Camp trekking that includes the visit to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, sightseeing in Pokhara, also known by the name “Lake City of Nepal.”

Phewa Lake and view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range are the main attractions in this trek. 

The route of Annapurna Base Camp passes through Pooh Hill, The key point at the height of 3,210 metres or 10,532 feet to get a closer view of more than 20 highest peaks and the magnificent sunrise view. This trekking route also crosses natural hot spring at Jhinu Danda where one can benefit by taking bath in a pool, famous for the medicinal value.

Hotel / Accommodations

Three-night accommodation in a star hotel in Kathmandu, two-night in Pokhara and 9-night stay in the standard teahouse lodge in mountains during the trek. You may have to share a bed with a companion during the mountainous trip. But if you need, $ 250 can fetch you single supplement for the whole trip in the mountains.

Food:

You will be served with breakfast during your stay in Kathmandu. All other meals will be provided to you by Mount Fishtail Adventure Pvt Ltd which includes welcome dinner. We provide you with breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the journey. When you are on the mountain, you will be served with local foodstuffs such as Dal Bhat (gram soup and rice), noodles, Tibetan bread made of buckwheat, apple pie, spaghettis, soup, salad, hot drinks.

Best time to travel

The best time to set out on Annapurna Base Camp trekking is either in Spring season (March to May) or in Autumn (September to November). It offers magnificent views together with amazing sunrise and sunset in these two seasons.

The journey is also possible in other seasons even in monsoon but we recommend you on its best time.

Points to consider

As the trek is along the gentle path, a person with an average fitness can do this trek. You are likely to walk 6 to 7 hours a day. Besides that, you will require getting medical advice from a doctor if you have any health defect. You will have to inform us beforehand.

Although you do not require any technical and physical training for this trek, we suggest you do basic physical training or keep up walking as a preparation since walking in mountain may be a bit difficult.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,345 metres or 4,413 feet) We receive you upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). In 20- 30 minutes, our vehicle brings you to the hotel. After you take rest in the hotel, we hold meeting over dinner to plan your trip.

Day 2Kathmandu sight-seeing After breakfast early in the morning, we set out on a visit to the UNESCO Wold Heritage Sites in Kathmandu valley. We visit Famous Hindu temple Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupa that lies in the northeastern part of Kathmandu valley. Ascending the Swayambhunath Temple also called the monkey temple on the hill in the western skirt of Kathmandu is an opportunity to study the whole city in bird’s view. Kathmandu Durbar Square listed in the UNESCO WORLD Heritage Sites, built during Malla Dynasty exhibits the finest cuts of wood carvings and arts. You get an opportunity to explore the typical Newari culture and cuisines.

Day 3Luxurious drive to Pokhara (827 metres or 2,713 feet) 5 to 6 hours drive After breakfast, early in the morning, we travel to Pokhara by luxurious vehicle. It takes about 6 to7 hours from Kathmandu. The way to Pokhara is equally enjoyable as the Highway road meanders along the bank of Trishuli River surrounded by green vegetations all around the hills. We check in hotel, take rest for an hour. We take a walk to Phewa Lake and do boating for an hour. We enjoy the panorama of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain range. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 4One hour drive to Nayapul, 3-4 hours trekking to Tikhedhunga (1,540 metres or 5,053 feet) The trip starts at about 8 am after breakfast. Travelling for an hour, we alight from the vehicle at Nayapul, the base for the trekking routes and also the local market. The trail begins with a suspension bridge. The green forests and villages scattering among the hills come into view. On the way, we take lunch at one of the local restaurants. Crossing a bridge at Birethanti, we continue ascending along the route passing by the waterfalls and meandering together with Bhurungdi River, we arrive at Tikhedhunga, the place to take rest for the night.

Day 56-7 hours trekking to Ghorepani (2,860 metres or 9,384 feet) After breakfast, we ascend along the thousands of steps carved on Ulleri cliff to reach Ghorepani. The path takes a trial of our stamina. The trail also passes through woods of rhododendron with the pleasant view of the brooks. The term Ghorepani means horse to water as the place has settlements of traders who transport the goods on horseback. The morning light illuminates the mountains. The snowy peaks can be viewed from the hotel. The place gives an amazing view point for Annapurna south, Nilgiri Mountains and Dhaulagiri range including other peaks. The night at Ghorepani.

Day 6Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 metres or 10,532 feet), overnight stay in Tadapani (2,630 metres or 8,629 feet) Early in the morning, we get ready to scale Poon Hill. The trail passes through the thick woods of rhododendron. In about an hour, we arrive at the Poon Hill view point. The scenery from here appears like in the dream. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges including other 20 highest mountains offer a marvelous view. Sunlight illuminates the snowy mountains. The spot at the Poon Hill gives an amazing view of Pokhara in the southeast and Mustang in the north. We come back to the hotel for breakfast and take rest. Next, we measure the trail meandering and crossing rivers and rivulets, frequently passing through the woods. We stay overnight at Tadapani, a small beautiful settlement among the woods.

Day 7Tadapani to Chhomrong (2,170 metres or 7,120 feet) 5 to 6 hours hiking After breaking fast, we set on journey ascending the trails crossing the rivers, rivulets, and green woods. Here, you can find the varieties of colourful birds, flowers and some minor mammals such as monkeys and langur (black monkey). In the afternoon, we arrive at a Gurung village known as Chhomrong. The village lies at the base of Mount Annapurna and serves as a depot for the basic commodities including kerosene. We stay here at night.

Day 8Chhomrong to Bamboo (2,310 metres or 7,579 feet) 6 hours hiking Our early morning trek after breakfast takes a trial of climbing up the steps and crossing the suspension bridge over river.The trail passing through the forest, leads us to Kuldihar. From here, we continue walking up to Bamboo to stay overnight.

Day 9Bamboo to Deurali (3,230 metres or 10,598 feet) 6 to 7 hours hiking As the name implies bamboo, we pass through the dense bamboo forests. Our morning journey takes the steep trail along the mountains across the rare settlements, finally opening the view of the sky after we arrive in a dry forest. Here, we hike up to Deurali for overnight stay.

Day 10Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 metres or 13,550 feet) 6:30 hours hiking Early in the morning after breakfast we after pass by the gentle path before we ascend through the rocky hills which are steep at various places. The panorama of the magnificent Himalayas gives an ultimate experience of nature’s wonder. We can enjoy the view of Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna mountains as we approach the Annapurna Base camp via Machhapuchhre Basecamp. We stay overnight in tranquil environment after viewing sunset in the late afternoon.

Day 11Annapurna Base Camp Back to Bamboo (2,310 metres or 7579 feet) We get up early in the morning to catch-up with the vista of the moment when the upper portion of the Annapurna South baths in the golden light while the lower portion reflects the silver light. The gorgeous glacier on your back is equally magnificent. Here, we follow back the track we have trodden. Time to innovate the stay in Bamboo one more time.

Day 12Bamboo to Jhinu the hot spring (1,780 metres or 5,840 feet) 5 to 6 hours hiking Here also, we are reverse the path up to Chhomrong, that we have celebrated on the way up the Annapurna Base Camp. This time we have to go farther diverting left from Chhomrong and descend to Jhinu Danda, the place with natural hot spring. You can take time to bath in the pool. You may benefit by taking bath in the pool, famous for the medicinal value. The relaxing night stay in a hotel in Jhinu Danda.

Day 13Jhinu to Nayapul (1,070 metres or 3,510 feet), 6 hours walk, one hour drive to Pokhara Early in the morning after breakfast, we descend along the trail meandering along the river on left and passing by the caves and ravines covered in cobwebs. The view is no less fascinating than the fictitious movies. We arrive at Syauli Bazar famous for the delicious fish. We take lunch here and continue hiking up to Nayapul. We are once more back to urban area. We take vehicle to pokhara. In an hour you find yourself in a decent hotel in Pokhara.

Day 14Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,345 metres or 4,413 feet) At around 9:00 am, we fly to Kathmandu which takes about 40 minutes. The flight gives an opportunity to observe the mountains closely. The day is for taking rest and exploring about nearby places on your own. We enjoy the night in Kathmandu. We invite you to dinner.
